Course Outline

The Graduate Certificate in Logistics Management is designed for early career managers working in the private, public and Defence sectors who wish to gain an understanding of logistics concepts and techniques. The program will enable students to familiarise themselves with logistics planning strategies, to design and implement logistics life cycle management, inventory management, project management, contingency forecasting, distribution, and reverse logistics.

Course Objectives

The Graduate Certificate in Logistics Management is designed for early career managers working in the private, public and Defence sectors who wish to gain an understanding of logistics concepts and techniques. The program will enable students to familiarise themselves with logistics planning strategies, to design and implement logistics life cycle management, inventory management, project management, contingency forecasting, distribution, and reverse logistics. This program will enable the development of student’s understanding of analytical tools and systems for logistics information flow management. It is particularly appropriate for those entering or aspiring to develop a logistics career. Students will have appropriate undergraduate qualification in management or a related discipline and /or relevant professional experience.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Communicate effectively to transmit logistics knowledge and skills to a range of audiences and be capable of independent and collaborative inquiry.
  2. Synthesise disciplinary knowledge and skills to achieve organisational objectives in a range of logistics management contexts.
  3. Analyse logistics management issues and develop appropriate solutions, through critical thinking and problem-solving skills that ensure efficient and effective outcomes.
  4. Support logistics issues in a wider management context so as to ensure the best outcomes organisation wide.

Duration

6 months full-time.

Pre-Requisites

To gain entry into a Graduate Certificate in Logistics Management, an applicant must meet one of the following entry requirements:

  • Completion of a Bachelor degree with honours in the same or a related discipline* from a recognised institution; or
  • Completion of a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in a related discipline* from a recognised institution; or
  • Completion of a Bachelor degree in the same or a related discipline* from a recognised institution; and completion of at least three years relevant full-time professional experience; or
  • Completion of a Bachelor degree in a non-related discipline; and completion of at least four years relevant full-time professional experience; or
  • Evidence of other qualifications and professional experience to be assessed as acceptable grounds for admission into the program by the relevant Program Authority. In certain circumstances, students may be required to undertake and successfully complete a relevant non-award course as a condition for admission into the program. This non-award course may also be credited towards the program upon admission.
  • English language proficiency requirements: For admission to UNSW Canberra, all applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the English language requirements, opens in a new window

This Graduate Certificate is also an exit program from the Master of Logistics Management (8564).
