Course Outline
An overview covering history of the Logistics, customer service, order processing, purchasing, operations management, transport systems, warehousing, information systems and sustainability. This is an introductory subject, taught at a very basic level – introducing the major areas of studies in the subject and how it relates to the economy. It introduces the language of logistics and the key concepts.

- History and development from physical distribution to supply chains, 2PL,3PL,4PL

- Order processing and information systems
- Purchasing
- Operations Management (making or doing things) a) Inventory management, b) JIT, SOP,TQM
- Transport
- Warehousing

- Ethics in logistics
Learning Outcomes
The course is a “helicopter” view of the subject and introduces students to relevant texts, university courses, leading thinkers and practitioners in the subject as we go through the various parts of the subject.
