Course Outline

Canberra looks at managing organisational supply chains from the perspective of operations management and efficient decision-making. Designed for graduates working in the private, public and Defence sectors, this program provides students with the knowledge and skills to develop solutions for a range of complex issues faced by organisations engaged in domestic and international logistics business activities.

Course Objectives

The Master of Logistics Management is designed for logistics managers working in the private, public and Defence sectors who wish to gain a thorough understanding of logistics concepts and techniques. The program will enable students to learn advanced logistics planning strategies, to design and implement logistics life cycle management, inventory management, project management, contingency forecasting, distribution, and reverse logistics. This program will also enable the development of students’ understanding of analytical tools and systems for logistics information flow management including big data analysis and business intelligence techniques.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to utilise enquiry-based learning and critical analytical skills to develop logistics domain knowledge;
  • Students will be able to undertake advanced independent research in order to clarify complex problems in different areas of logistics in ways that reflect uncertainties;
  • Students will be able to develop advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills in logistics management, and the ability to apply these in a range of contexts to create novel solutions;
  • Students will be able to analyse how logistics integrates with other aspects of organisational systems and operations to optimise contextually appropriate solutions and be able to offer useful, implementable advice to organisational leaders.

Duration

1 year full-time.

Pre-Requisites

To gain entry into a Master of Logistics Management (8564), an applicant must meet one of the following entry requirements:

  1. Completion of a Bachelor degree with honours in the same or a related discipline* from a recognised institution; or
  2. Completion of a Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in the same or a related discipline* from a recognised institution; or
  3. Completion of a Bachelor degree in the same or a related discipline* from a recognised institution; and completion of at least three years relevant full-time professional experience; or
  4. Completion of a Bachelor degree in a non-related discipline; and completion of at least four years relevant full-time professional experience; or
  5. Evidence of other qualifications and professional experience to be assessed as acceptable grounds for admission into the program by the relevant Program Authority. In certain circumstances, students may be required to undertake and successfully complete a relevant non-award course as a condition for admission into the program. This non-award course may also be credited towards the program upon admission.
