Course Outline

RMIT has one of the oldest and largest supply chain and logistics management departments of any university in Australia. By studying the Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management (MSCLM) at RMIT you’re gaining real world-skills applicable in current and future roles.

This comprehensive degree prepares you to design and scale supply chains on a global level and develop the project management and negotiation skills required to solve complex business problems.

Course Objectives

The Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management prepares you to manage the creation and implementation of efficient and sustainable strategies over the logistics life cycle, across the entire supply chain or within supply. The program offers studies in the core areas of supply chain and procurement management, operations, transport and warehousing applied in a range of contexts.

During this program you will be exposed to a variety of learning experiences and activities which may include lectures and tutorials, assignments, collaborative projects and workshops activities related to Supply Chain and Logistics Management strategy, planning and execution. Assessment mostly includes major and minor written assignments, evaluation of case studies, completion of group projects, group presentations and in-class tests. International study tours are a unique feature of the program allowing you to combine an overseas travel and cultural experience with the completion of either a 12 or 24 credit point course in intensive mode.

Learning Outcomes

This program you will provide you with the knowledge and professional skills necessary to effectively manage logistics and supply chain operations. On the successful completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a broad, critical and practical understanding of contemporary issues and practices in business.
  • Critically and methodically analyse contemporary logistics and supply chain issues to design efficient and effective operations processes.
  • Apply analytical logistics and supply chain skills to solve operationally complex problems.
  • Conduct logistics and supply chain practices in a socially responsible and ethical manner.
  • Demonstrate confidence and competence in negotiating contracts, resolving conflicts and rationalising business decisions in multi-cultural settings.
  • Utilize project and change management skills to develop solutions for dealing with dynamically complex business problems
  • Apply and integrate professional theory with practice in authentic Work Integrated Learning (WIL) contexts, professional contexts and industry settings.
  • Apply research principles and methods to design innovative options and solutions for, and make reasoned judgements about, problems and issues in contemporary business practice.

  • 1.5 years full-time or part-time equivalent (with advanced standing)
  • 2 years full-time or part-time equivalent (without advanced standing)

Pre-Requisites

1.5-year duration (with advanced standing)

  • An Australian bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary*OR
  • An Australian bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, from a recognised tertiary institution in any discipline plus a minimum of two years relevant work experienceOR
  • The RMIT Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain and Logistics Management^.

We offer Recognition of Prior Learning, or the recognition of previous study or learning. This means you can apply for credit and reduce the number of courses you need to complete. Your application will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

If you do not meet the entry requirements for the 1.5-year duration masters, you may be considered for the 2-year duration masters.

2-year duration (without advanced standing)

  • An Australian bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

*If your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry to be granted advanced standing.

^Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate you will have the opportunity to progress to the Master’s degree.
