The Construction Logistics and Community Safety Standard – Australia (CLOCS-A) is a national
initiative designed to improve community safety in the construction and logistics industry.

CLOCS-A emphasises the critical responsibility of construction projects, their fleets, and transport
operators to prioritise safety for all road users in the community, especially Vulnerable Road
Users (VRUs).

VRUs typically include:

  • Pedestrians (including older individuals and those with mobility aids)
  • Cyclists
  • Motorcyclists
  • E-scooter users
  • Traffic management crews and road construction workers

Heavy vehicles play a central role in large construction projects, transporting materials to and from sites. These vehicles interact frequently with VRUs, especially in urban areas, where the risk of accidents is higher due to increased traffic interactions and changing road environment. CLOCS-A accreditation ensures that both construction companies and their transport operators adopt best practices to mitigate these risks.

What you will learn:

The VRU Short Course is a targeted micro-credential designed for professional transport drivers working on CLOCS-A accredited sites. This course equips drivers with essential knowledge and skills to safely interact with VRUs, particularly during site entry and exit, and along haulage routes with mixed traffic.

By completing this course, drivers contribute to a safer transport network and demonstrate their commitment to community and workplace safety.
